District 9 Buzz

The Surfs international correspondent interviews District 9 director Neill Blomkamp and star Sharlto Copley (all South African). Watch as he cuts right to the chase with some hard hitting questions about the ill-fated Halo film.
I work with Scott at Bite TV and this is one of the funniest interviews I've seen. Yay Rob! You're on your way to becoming a superstar!

Sex and Art

There is no doubt that Christian Louboutin creates 'sexy' shoes. So this month when I picked up Wallpaper* magazine, I wasn't surprised to see their 'Sex and Art' issue represented by a pair of black, thigh-high Louboutin boots on the cover. The magazine's spread looks at the sexual drive behind art, design, fashion, food and beauty. Its centrepiece is a 28-page section by renowned art director Peter Saville and photographer Nick Knight, which conjures up the ultimate adult play pen where fashion, furniture and fetishism collide.

The rest of the issue takes in everything from aphrodisiac cocktails and cool condom packaging to erotic publishing and a look at the efforts to clean up the seedy sides of great cities. Wallpaper* also looks at the haute hard core of S&M's master craftsmen, uncovers the last taboo, and previews a startling and intimate series of videos shot for Wallpaper.com by US artist Robbie Cooper. Cooper's short films are a powerful new take on pornography and how we use it.

But those boots - are those sexy? I'm not so sure. I've tried on thigh-high boots before only to be disappointed because they fall off my leg, take forever to put on and just in general look quite trashy.

Leave me a comment, tell me if you think they're sexy. If not, tell me what is (in fashion).

Facebook Joins in the Vanity

The buzz was still stirring over the keynote presentation at the Worldwide Developer's Conference yesterday afternoon, but it didn't cast a shadow on a huge announcement made by Facebook. Beginning on Friday June 12 at 9:01pm Facebook users will be able to choose a vanity URL. I personally believe vanity URL's are extremely useful (from MySpace and Twitter experience) I wonder why Facebook has waited this long to implement this change. Now, its expected that there will be plenty of complaints and disappointed users since the fight for the same URL will be diabolical.

All I have to say is if your name is Crystal Gibson - watch out on Friday night because I will claim my preferential username...or else.

Partio Time

Par-ti-o. noun; the congregation of like minded individuals to party and celebrate in debauchery on a patio.

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that the term 'partio' (created by @clickflickca) is ubiquitous.  In the next coming weeks @clickflickca, @da187suspect, @aldrichsilva and myself (@crystalgibson) will be working diligently to organize a partio event.  There aren't too many details yet, but I promise it will be a tweetup not to be missed.
Next time you're tweeting definitely spread the word by using the hashtag #partio and feel free to message any one of us with idea or questions.

Stay tuned!
